Yes, it is playable. But I think that there is an unfair advantage involving default colors. The blue team has a darker color that is not as easy to spot as green. We need colors that have equal advantages AND disadvantages. Plus, I think some people would like a change, like izzy thought. Izzy just accidentally picked a color that didn’t work, that’s why people complained. If we find a good color for the teams, why not use it?
I thought the idea was to blend the player with the terrain (or make them both extremely obvious). Not make them invisible in the fog’s color. O_o
Although it might help the tower builders hide a little better, instead of being neon dots to pick off.
Let’s try to remember that the background color is rarely just sky blue. In fact, it sometimes changes during the round. Although, I do agree that teal blends in too well with that background…
You are right, I totally forgot about that.
But the global chat is always white, just the team chat would have minor problems, as people are usually facing the ground in the chat area, and besides that, one could use modloader, which has a background color for the chat.
Woops. Meant fog color, not sky. And I guess you’re right, those colors (silver/teal) would be hard to see on most maps . Also, I didn’t think about the chat/kill-feed, which would be hard see whether is was white global chat or silver team chat. Good point.
I like the idea of darker colors. They work as camouflage, compared to the bright neon colors we use now… But in order to use a shade of red, there needs to be a different kill-feed color. Something that can’t be mistaken for the team color red.
Could we do this? With a brighter color? (yellow, neon green, etc.) And, as Nope said, perhaps server messages could be in this color.
