I am not to judge whoever was more heroic or not, because they were honestly both heroic deeds.
However, Operation Overlord was the assault that pretty much decided the fate of the entire world. Although the battle might be still won because of Soviet’s ridiculous amount of soldiers and resources, surely they would have suffered double the casualties if not more. The assault was deemed to fail so Eisenhower, who was Supreme Commander of the Allies at that time, wrote a paper that is apologizing to the public if the landing should fail.
