Now, before you read this, don’t misunderstand me. I am not criticizing the admins and guards’ hard work here in aloha.pk servers. But I think it would be great if we promote some more people to be admins and guards to completely get rid of hackers 24/7 that come to aloha.pk servers. Those ESP, aimbot hackers usually come to servers and stay in that server for at least 3 hours unless an admin or guard comes, which doesn’t happen too much since they are busy in some other servers (even if you use the command /admin which some players doesn’t even know that exists). Again, I am not criticizing the admins and guards’ work, but this is just a suggestion.
We have people that say this before. Same thing always the answer is that they have to hand pick them and it takes time to pick them. Quality over quanity.
Then why don’t we just hand pick them more? I mean I wouldnt even have posted this if admins were just coming to servers when called.
Well, Anonymous, one of the best things to do when you suspect someone of hacking is go on webchat.quakenet.org, and put #aloha as the channel. When you get there, tell someone with a + or an @ next to their name, preferably someone who is talking at the moment. Ping them by saying their name and then telling them what’s up, I.E. “Spring (that’s me) there’s a hacker on top 10 maps”. Doing this is very helpful, and will often get through to us much more easily than it would if you used /admin. It’s a great way to get us to like you and to clean up the server as well. 
Most of the time, even if I don’t feel like it, I’ll check out a player that someone reports on IRC. If I have time before work, I’ll even hop on babel or pinpoint at 3AM and watch someone I find suspicious. I’ve made a lot of bans at this time of the morning. However, if I have to leave, I have to leave. AOS doesn’t pay me any money, work does.
Sometimes when I think no other admins are around at the time, I’ll notice that one of them just banned a player.
Conclusion: we’re around at all times of day and night. We may not be vocally active on IRC, but we’re there… watching players like you.
Why is there ever a time that you might report a cheater and no one appears to be around to look into it? Well, because we don’t always sit in front of the computer. We sleep, we shit, we fornicate, we work, or we have school. There are many different activities that can take a staff member away from the computer.
So, why not get more guards/admins? Believe it or not, there aren’t as many capable and competent candidates as you might imagine.
Yes I realize that there aren’t many candidates for admins or even guards. But there must a solution to this hacker problem.
I agree there’s quite too many hackers for all our admins to catch, but we need to be cautious anyways.
We’ve had a period in the past where we promoted many people to guards at once to see what would happen. It ended up being disastrous as some of them abused commands to teleport people or themselves to enemy territory. Not only does this reflect really poorly on the aloha servers, it also forces us to spend even more administrative presence to keep these rogue guards/mods down.
With that said, you guys should help too. If you see something, say something.
First of all, I respect your opinion and not going to offend you in any way. But in my opinion, due to my experiences playing in mostly aloha.pk arena servers, I just don’t think that the hackers get kicked fast enough. They stay for at least 2 hours if no one votes to kick the hacker.
Sorry to interrupt this thread, but can you guys tell me what’s the difference between an admin and a guard and trusted password? I am considering to be an admin because I feel very unfair for those players who always get killed by hackers especially those who always change their name, I wanted to ban them but I can’t because I’m not an admin. Sometimes, I tried to votekick the hacker but the hacker’s teammates kept voting “no” because they’re winning, so I can’t do anything. So, this is why I’ve wanted to apply for admin. By the way, can someone give me the link for admin application? Thanks.

the difference between admin guard and trusted is simple
an admin has all powers
a guard has about quarter of the powers of an admin
a trusted is just immune to vk’s

You technically do not need to get trusted in order to become a guard later on. I, myself applied for guard while skipping the trusted process.
Well,to be honest there are enough guards I think,they are just too often busy so they can’t catch anybody.
I often report griefers/hackers at the webchat but if I say ‘There is a hacker On pp’ they say ‘1 sec’ and while the admin joins the hacker leaves.
I don’t think more admins are needed.

Anyway, you apply for trusted and get access to the guard application. From then on, if you get accepted, you have the potential to become admin but first you need to be a moderator. Moderator has access to a few more commands than guard and Admin has access to all commands. There’s no direct app for promotion as you are promoted when people who can read apps feel that you should be promoted. If you want to have a chance to apply for guard, apply for trusted then guard.
Trusted players can definitely be promoted to guard. Not all trusted players will be promoted, but those who show a pride in what they do as far as reporting hackers and generally being a good player have a better chance.
I have a thought, what if mods and admins were allowed to take on underlings/apprentices and help train specific people that they feel could be guards.
Just a thought that came to mind while reading this.

There isn’t a way to vote no on votekicks, some people just don’t vote so the votekick times out. Just wanted to clear that up for you
