I think I should mention that Ferrari used an iron farm to build those sets of armor.
Adding on to Sniper, I don’t think we really have an iron shortage with the amount of iron farms that we have on the server right now. Do we really need to build another one close to the spawn and over-saturate the iron supply that we don’t even need in such vast quantities?
First im pretty sure FF spent a lot of afk time at our iron farm near old spawn to make that armor. The farm is decent but the amount of iron isn’t that much (1 stack of iron blocks in 7-10 hours of afking).
Also I can probably set up a poll (maybe using google forms). What should it say?

We don’t need to build it next to spawn if that is what is causing concern (it would just be nice to have a close iron farm). If needed we could just replace an existing iron farm with the iron towers or build it in a close but far spot from spawn (ie techno’s old base).
The big concerns I am reading about are lag, zombie spawns, and people hogging the farm.
If I get time I can probably set up a temporary server running the map download of the finished iron farm and get people on to test it.
I’m not sure about everyone else but I sometimes build with iron blocks and don’t really mine iron ore that much. If I really need iron I do to the iron farm but thats cost money.
I think the general idea of the iron farm close to spawn was that it was going to be a community build and that we would always have a supply of iron.
How’d I get dragged into this :o Just kidding! I know that took a crap load of iron, but that also took a lot of time to gather. I think it’s a perfect example of how we use the additional iron to make rather cool (or so I believe ;)) builds. And if we do use this iron for cool builds, then why not have a faster way to get it?

How about just set up a new thread and people just say Yes or No. It’s not that hard to count up the votes to see if 75% players agree with the build or doesn’t care about it.

I vote for the spot in the forrest south of spawn but I am up for other locations. My only concern is that I don’t want to use the nether to travel to it (b/c of certain people who enjoy pissing off pigmen and I end up dead)

I’m sorry if you misunderstood me, but I meant having a poll as in everyone speaking out in the comments. I’d like to say that I’m not as dumb as you think; I consider myself pretty well-informed on how the aloha.pk poll works.

The poll is a good idea to see how other people feel about this - to be honest I do not have much problem with it - I don’t really think the argument about having too much iron deflating the value of it is very strong - for one, if you do not wanna partake in the farming of iron you do not have to - iron can be as valuable to you as you want it to be.
My concerns are with lag - and other global problems that could arise - thus, I would say you can build it but if there are too many problems we will just have to shut it down. Does that make sense?
The way I see it, the only reason there is any debate for this build is because people want it at spawn - and spawn is the communities place to build. Thus, everyone of the server has say in what goes on in the spawn area. If someone wanted to build this outside of the spawn area at their own place the only debate made then would be between server-admins and the builder, regarding lag or other technical issues that could arise.
For example, someone cannot tell me not to build a new room at my base. If this new room happened to be an iron farm, then so be it. However, if this new room (in this case, the iron farm) caused issues that affect everyone, then there becomes room for debate. That’s the way the server is - it’s a vanilla server, people should and can play the game any ways they want within the confines of the small number of rules we have in place and the morality of the game (IE, no item duping, or other heinous exploits).
tl;dr because they want it built at spawn everyone has a say - otherwise the only debate would be over lag or other technical/global issues.
I hope this is pretty clear to read - I some times imagine that I do not come off very well, so please ask me to clarify if need be. If someone does not agree with this also speak up.

Well we aren’t requesting it to be built in spawn chucks but the 500 block radius where no bases are built around spawn, but if that location is not wanted we can debate other locations (ie the 3rd location: techno’s old base, or any other place that wouldn’t interfere with other peoples bases)
