Name them! I know AEM probably went through one with me…I was in Florida during hurricane season many years ago
Unknown period during the 2000’s (i forgot) - Emergency Alert System activated sending a tornado warning out because one was spotted in our area. Passed near our location but dissipated.
2003 - December Nor’Easter of 2003 which was a heavy Blizzard. KO’ed power for a while, and the snow reached about 2 feet in our yard.
2004 - Hurricane Charley, a category 4 hurricane with winds of up to 150 mph (240 km/h). One of the top 10 most destructive hurricanes. Razed the town I was in heavily, causing many missing trees, destroyed and heavily damaged houses and caused many deaths. I escaped unharmed. The army was sent in to assist with the cleanup efforts, and the town I was in was declared part of a federal disaster area. In fact, the entire state was. I remember watching APC’s dragging a tree off of railroad tracks.
2009 - I call them the great storms of 2009. 2011 was also a very active year. Multiple Nor’Easters, Blizzards and iirc one ice storm occurred.
2010 - Nor’easter with winds of up to 70 miles per hour (110 km/h). It toppled trees and snapped power lines, with the heaviest damage reported in Fairfield County (county I’m in). Power poles snapped and I watched in horror as a tree fell on top of a passing car, I later learned that the driver was killed. Power was out for days, and my sister missed a week of school (at the time I was going to school in NY), but I only missed a day.
Late 2010/2011 - Some of the worst years considering severe weather in the northeast.
2011 - Ice Storm of 2011. It put almost half an inch of ice everywhere. A plow destroyed all the curbs on the street trying to break the ice. This also froze several pipes at my middle school causing them to explode.
2011 - Hurricane Irene impacted my area as a weak tropical storm, but it still caused heavy damage. Winds were gusty, but not as bad as some of the Nor’Easters that happened the year before. We all woke up around 4AM because the transformer outside exploded, showering the street with transformer oil and other debris. The
2012 - Hurricane Sandy…this really needs no description as many people here probably went through this too.
2013 - February Nor’easter “Nemo” was another blizzard. This brought high winds and heavy snow.
