maybe this is not official announcement from the aloha admin, but it is important announcement about important aloha changes that maybe should be made so the title is ok in my opinion, BK will disagree with me and change title and i cannot argue with this because i am not admin but i guess we will see this

I think there’s a resurgence of anti-multi-trusted-system because at this point in time aloha has not yet learned how to be multi trusted, and I think we’re gonna be part of the throes of that transformation, which must take place. aloha is not going to be a monolithic community “hurr durr im an admin and know better” that it once was in the last few years. Super smart players with great ideas are going to be at the center of that. It’s a huge transformation for aloha to make. It is now going into a multi-trusted system mode, and super smart players with great ideas will be resented because of our leading role. But without that leading role, and without that transformation, aloha will not survive.

I couldn’t care less if someone swears or says something racist, sexist or homophobic. Whatever 'ist or 'phobic. Even rape, child porn, polygamy, Islam… I couldn’t care less.

If you don’t like what someone is saying, you should be able to use /mute for yourself. But you do not get to decide what other people’s likes or dislikes are. You can only speak for yourself, not for other people. So fuck off with this swearing ban.

Every staff memeber has a different tolerance level to racism. Where I might let it slide another might mute you. Either way dont expect to ever advance in rank if you think racism is being edgy. this is nice comic scrapheap thanks for sharing this but it is pretty ugly to be honest with the stick figures i canot do much beter myself but this comic would be better without stick figures and maybe better drawing

Everyone has a right to say what they want.

Everyone has a right to listen to what they want.

You can choose not to listen to someone, but it is not in your position to forcefully silence them. Furthermore this forum (internet, your computer etc.) is a privilege. Not a right. Heck, the owner(s) could decide to ban you for being Indian if they really wanted to; and they wouldn’t be going against any of your “rights” - because as I’ve said, it’s a privilege that you are on here. Just like everyone else.

No, the line is someone spamming, fullstop. Not merely saying something racist. You’ve acknowledged this already(consciously or not) by referring to spamming each time you’ve mentioned racism there. Because as a Moderator it is your job to stop spamming when you see it, regardless of the content.

And if you are referring to me about not expecting to advance in rank; then I don’t know who you speak for (as you’re a Moderator). Especially with that snapshot judge of maturity. But if I was a troll, I’d call you trollophobic for suggesting trolls can’t become staff members.

You’re likely right nonetheless. Though I am not interested in ‘climbing the ladder’ as it were; I have my place on the UK servers and the ~150ms delay on US servers make streaks of headshots all the more difficult. Just a shame aloha doesn’t have any populated European servers.

hello kungfuchiken, thanks for your response but i am disagree with some the things you say, you say in your text “Everyone has a right to listen to what they want.” but sometimes this is not true, i ask you this what if someone come to you and yell in your ear, even if you close your ear you will still hear this unless you are deaf, and now what if this person that is yelling in youre ear is yelling bad word about your race, this is bad thing to happen, maybe like it is said this is legal but this is not good

we have big problem on aloha, this is people who think it is ok to curse all the time
there are many children who play on aloha, also many religious. it is not ok to swear, this people do not like it
i suggest a new script were any offensive words automute you, such as “fuck”, “shit”, “nigger”, “spic”, “ass”, many more
guys please this is big problem many players think it is cool to curse but it is not cool it is mean and unfriendly

this “freedom of speech” is not: you can say whatever you want.
its about being free to say whats on your mind,
however, that only extends to things about yourself and your perspective of things.
so no, you cant say whatever insults comes into head, with the “freedom of speech” excuse, there is something called respect.
just like one shouldnt say swear/bad words around kids,
one should not say bad things about others on public chats.
cause no, no one can choose what they hear, however hearing and listening are not the same.
that said, one can choose what they listen to.

So maybe adding a temporally mute option for loud and aggressive players could help solve this.
cause, as much as I would not listen to whatever nonsense these “aggressive” players might say,
I would rather not have to hear it at all in the first place.

That being said, hope there is some understanding that can come from my post about this subject.

I don’t know what’s better, temporarily muting aggressive players that apparently rage over hacks by being profane/being racist or offensive because they probably hate jews, they think 9/11 was awesome or they wanna shoot up a school, or just shit talk you over by typing it directly in chat.

Or temporarily muting players that randomly say something like “fuck” , “shit” or “no soup” like pretty much most of us including me because it is profane and the kids today probably think it’s offensive. I don’t really find it offensive but i liked it back then when the other kids were very sensitive to profanity back then. And now you find an Indonesian pre-teen playing OpenSpades and is using english profanity in his video. So it’s mostly useless because kids think it’s really cool to use profane words and they probably won’t stop.
