hehe, nice to see you comming up with some more variations. I’ve also seen Scrapheap and Sidekick bob build similar towers. It seems like these kinds of towers are becoming more popular
I used to build quite a few open towers with a wide wall going along the edges of the heaven and a staircase inside (like thise one http://i.imgur.com/iKuSKE4.png. This new design is not stretched along the heavens but towards the heavens. I’ve found it to be superior to my old designs for a couple of reasons:
[details=Click for details]-it’s easier for you to protect yourself as a builder from attacks from the front since you only have to place 4 blocks to raise the wall by one layer
-people cant dig out most of the towers blocks while hiding behind the large wall in front of the tower, they have to either go inside or spade on the left or right side for the most part
-you don’t need additional floors to jump down faster, you can use the staircase for that
-at an early stage it is useful to block the entrance of the tower if you are trusted (assuming you are starting the tower on your own, of course). this way you can start to build the inner staircase the way you want it without anyone messing it up (the worst thing your teammates can to is building up a small staircase to get on top of the walls, which will actually help you)
-most players actually get how to build them once you’ve started building the staircase[/details]
Yes, it is a good variation, if the side walls were longer it would be comparable to Ram Towers. I would suggest that you build the floors with a height of 6 blocks between them as you are able to build only 7 blocks high, that means that the next floor remains in the 7th block high, and there is a 6 blocks height between those consecutive floors. As in the blueprint:
I guess it's the time for me to join in on this.
Maybe not the greatest tower, but it is the fastest fully repairable tower i know of.
Sorry for the bad picture. :-[
(It's the sky colored at the right hand side)
The downside is the vulnerability of griefer attacks and newbies who cant jump up two blocks at the time.
The standard stairs at the back, gives it the strength, while the tower in front gives fully protection for the builder inside.
With just two players, you can build this one faster than other towers, and still make it strong enough.
Nice tower, but what a waste of resources! The game could/should have been won twice in the time it takes to build such a huge tower.
It shows that the builders just are builders, and that they leave the intel alone…
Well, the red team was building a road (with the white paint and all) between the two camps (so they took a part of the castle down), so it was building time.
