Okay we all think that Ace of Spades is dying, right? I actually realized something over the last few weeks. Whenever a server gets like 7-8 players and more join, it doesn’t actually take away players from other servers. I’ve seen people I haven’t seen in years pop up when pinpoint gets populated. I heard that when the goon assault server popped up, older players appeared there too. The fact isn’t that Ace of Spades is slowly dying from not being updated, it’s dying because there used to be more people. However there is no shortage of wiling players. I came to the realization that AoS is dying because people are afraid to populate a server. The push event has kept push going now for almost 12 hours. There is no shortage of willing participants, everyone is just not populating the server they like because they think people won’t join. Sure we don’t have some of the older players, but a few Skype messages, snapchats, emails or whatever could possibly bring more than a few of them back. I know for a fact a lot of inactive players can be reached fast. the problem is that nobody wants to take the effort because they think that AoS is dying. Get that mentality out of your head. I can populate pinpoint and have it have up to 20 players within an hour, usually less. People love the maps and when they get populated, the servers will fill up. I know for a fact some people don’t play AoS at all because their favorite servers are never populated.
Additionally, there are at least 500 AoS players who are active. There is such a wide diversity of players that pop in and out of aloha. Honestly, if everyone just joins the server that they like, and get some friends to help you, the servers will be populated. People like this game because it is easy to run and can give you hours of a good time. What does kill population however does revolve around bad maps…some maps, while they do take time and effort, are annoying to some people, and have killed some servers. Unfortunately, CSMaps has fallen prey to that issue, where people just don’t wanna play it because they don’t like some of the maps.
So, to the users, and guests of Aloha, the next time you want to play pinpoint, or on the blockpower server, just join the server with a few friends.
Just a thought.
Well what I mean by “there are less people playing” I mean less people are playing because too many people just don’t join a server because it’s not filling with people. We still have at least 500+ active players though (I would go as far as saying maybe even 1000+ active players). As for the people I personally have seen in the last month, who may be considered “dead”:
Afrodude
CobaltAK
Spring
Eimis
Tin
[O.o] Wayne
CRoquer
Bobyman
That’s who I have seen personally. I’ve heard several older and “dead” players have made appearances in events such as the goon assault one by Kuunikal, and the pinpoint one by Aloha. A lot of AoS players just don’t visit the Aloha forums, they visit the Acorn server list or BnS. When they see that their server has players, BANG, they join. I am almost positive everyone with 0.75 AoS browses through the servers at least 2 times a week
Trust me I feel the same way. People get mad when I don’t play nice though and I’ll kill myself before I go out of my way to make fun of people in AoS.
Double posting because it looks like you can’t edit posts here. (Whose bright idea was that?)
I can only speak for myself but I come back around for like a month every summer and as soon as the school year starts back up I’ll probably “die” again, and I imagine this is the same for other people that you mentioned. Just because people are bored doesn’t mean that they’re willing to invest time playing a dead (yes it is dead) game.
Relationship Advice: Join your BR girlfriends dead clan.
Why does everyone think that Dak and I are in some sort of relationship. Jesus fucking Christ the second she talks to someone, someone assumes that they're dating. It happened with her and someone else more than once. You're gonna end up annoying the shit out of someone.
Some of the stuff you said is true, but people also join populated servers because of the wait time. When someone wants fast passed action, who wants to wait for a bunch of players to join? Also, I don’t know how posting OpenSpades and classic AoS on steam greenlight would work out because of copyright crap and stuff, but it would help the community gain a lot of new players.
