[SERVER] Arena Favorites Discussion

This thread is going to serve as a sort of gathering point to decide on what maps are going to be put on a new server called Arena Favorites.
This is going to basically be replacing Arena Top 10, as that is getting kind of stale.

So unless we can think of a better way (and no, not a poll), I want to try and both categorize, rate, and critique all our current arena maps.

I’ll be setting that up in the post below, so that’s that, but what I’d like from you guys is to post about your favorite and least favorite maps, why you like them/dislike them, what maps you like that have similar gameplay, etc. Just read the post below and help me fill out the details, give your two cents. Once we get somewhere nice, we’ll start working out how to pick the maps.

If a map you like isn’t on here, it’s only because I don’t have it yet! Make a post and I’ll put it up here.

It would also help if you could make some kind of mark on what are your favorite/least favorite maps. Hate / Love, / >:(, or whatever

Volcano:

Pros: Fun to see people rage after falling :3, a pretty fun map overall
Cons: Falling is pretty common, screwing your team a lot.

Prison

Pros: Decent hallways for sniping
Cons: Pretty much the whole fucking giant-blue-camping-tower thingy.

ambassyarena

Pros: One of the few sniping maps, pretty fun.
Cons: Has a problem where people glitch inside the buildings and annoy the hell out of everybody; can be fixed, however

Avseafort

Pros: Pretty easy map, fun to nade people
Cons: Problem with players glitching from spawn and nading the opposing team at the start.

Alcatraz

Pros: One of the few sniping maps; can also provide cover for you campers
Cons: 'Dem people complaining about people camping every round

Indiaarena

Pros: Decent for sniping, lots of camping/hiding places.
Cons: Those pits that you can’t get out of/have water at the bottom, lots of glitching that could easily be fixed.

I honestly think there are to many maps for Arena. I can’t even keep them all straight.

I’m confused. Are we supposed to comment all the maps? In the meantime, I’ll just tell you my 5 favorites: RigReloaded, turvystairs, submarinearena, officewars, minideckarena, chinatown, and ambassyarena

I think Im one of the only ones who likes FacingWorldsArena.
FacingWorldsArena
Pros-Great for sniping.
Cons-As Danke mentioned Campers and also make the fog just fog like colour.Because if you are on green, its hard to see the oppenent who’s blue because the fog blends in with the darkness of the blue color.

Well lets get started shall we…

Nuketown:

Pros: one of the best maps for me, it combines in door close range with open areas, camping lanes, and medium range backyards. also its got a little bit of elevation in the windows.

Cons: Campers, for one and also has a glitch that a guy was using but I couldn’t figure out how he was doing it, so just know that there’s one out there that allows you to glitch to the top of blue house.

FacingWorldsArena:

Pros: In my opinion the best arena map for rifles.

Cons: Got to be a pro

IndiaArena:

Pros: An overall great map. All types of players are satisfied.

Cons: Glitches

Generator2:

Pros: Love it, no glitches favors rifle a little bit more than other weapons in my opinion. Overall great map.

Cons: Can’t think of any besides 3rd floor campers, which are countered fairly well if u rush them or counter-camp them.

PrisonBreak:

Pros: Bit to open for my tastes, but ok map.

Cons: Camping is a bit to prevalent and its an aimbotter’s paradise.

AbandonedStronghold:

Pros:

Cons: Rounds are to rapid, grenade volleys are annoying, just tooooo close

Abordage:

Pros: I actually enjoy this map a lot, Good battle chemistry.

Cons: Camping tends to be popular.

AlamoArena:

Pros: I like this map, that’s all

Cons: no complaints

AlcatrasArena:

Pros: none

Cons: I absolutely hate it

EmbasseyArena:

Pros: Good rifle map, but gives other weapons a chance

Cons: glitching

Avseafort:

Pros: nicely paced games, one of few great shotty maps, rifles are surprisingly efficient on this map to.

Cons: nade spam/volley

Avsmallfort:

Pros: New version has balance the team spawns. both have equal chance to win now.

Cons: none really

Avstorage:

Pros: a very lovable map used to be hated for camping and wall spading, but now its fun

Cons: Camping has been lessened but still happens quite frequently.

MiniDeckArena:

Pros: Its a fun map, nice balance of weapons.

Cons: Blue team has clear advantage.

PlaneAssault:

Pros: Great map.

Cons: Camping tail of plane and engine tends to lengthen games.

RigReloaded:

Pros: I personally love this map and was disappointed when it didn’t make top 10. great balance

Cons: There tends to be a floor problem

Spacestationarena:

Pros:

Cons: To large, to many camping spots lag through floor

I’m going to do the ones I like. I will have the ratings in bold next to the map names.

abandonedstronghold: 7/10
Pros: A lot of fast paced action, pretty fun
Cons: None that I can think of

abordage: 8/10
Pros: Fast paced, I like the fact that there is one ship for each team. Good for sniping (Through the windows of the ship and on top of the mast)
Cons: Some part of it are good for camping.

ambassyarena: 7/10
Pros: Great for long distance shooting, rifle is a good gun for this map.
Cons: None that I can think of

chinatown: 9/10
Pros: The tower is the best part, with each team trying to control it. The tower is good for sniping.
Cons: None that I can think of

officewars: 8/10
Pros: Really fun, lots of grenade action, and fast paced gameplay
Cons: A lot of camping

rigreloaded: 10/10
Pros: Really fun (my favorite map), I like that the teams spawning on two different floors, some grenade action
Cons: Some good camping spots and some of the newer players get killed a lot because of these camping spots

submarinearena: 9/10
Pros: I like how it’s a long map, far distance combat on the top
Cons: None that I can think of

turvystairs: 7/10
Pros: Many different levels, sometimes harder to find the enemy which is a fun challenge, grenade action
Cons: Camping

I’ll rate the maps out of 10 on how much I like them.
To begin, I’d like to note that I’m a guy who prefers using rifle, sniping and rushing. I like when maps allow you to flank the opponent team if you manage to break one path or through other high risk means.
You’re also missing some maps. Mainly the newer ones. (Not sure if you want those.)
We should change the maps up every month.

abandonedstronghold
4/10
Feels too open.
Pros:
Quick paced
Cons:
Very open
Plays like:

abordage
7/10
Pros:
The map looks nice.
Several parkour routes that allow flanking, or a good vantage point.
Flanking is a very viable option on this map.
Cons:
Often times, ending up one sided as one side takes the outside, and the other team gets conditioned into camping into inside of their own ship, causing them to be even worse off upstairs.
Camping often becomes a problem.
Plays like:

alamoarena
5/10
Pros:
Rushing is highly profitable
Cons:
There are many different spawns.
Plays like:

alcatrazarena
5/10
I personally like the map, but I feel like it’s too pro-rifler oriented.
Pros:
There are many paths you can take

Cons:
Heavily rifle dominated. Good luck to anyone who can’t use a rifle (or long range smg)
The only way from the bottom floor to the next platform is through one set of stairs in the middle. It is possible to kill everyone coming up the stairs as the round starts and you can guarantee that the whole other team is on the bottom floor. Then you can camp your own stairs for people coming up
Plays like:

ambassyarena
5/10
Pros:
Completely flat, has a different experience, cancels out the largeness of the map.
Cons:
Completely flat
Plays like:

avrealm1f
4/10
Map doesn’t seem logically laid out.
The map is very different for green and blue.
Pros:
Cons:
There’s a path that leads directly to the back of green base, while it leads to the middle of blue base.
Blue has a better vantage point over the middle door
Plays like:

avseafort
A fast paced, well known map.
8/10
Pros:
Short matches
Rushing friendly
Shotty-friendly map
Cons:
Random grenade rain at the start of the match can get hectic.
Blue gets the better camping spots
Plays like:

avsides
5/10
A decent map
Pros:
Contested control of the center
Cons:
Always ends up as one team camping, the other team rushing.
Nade Rain
The map is not completely mirrored. Green gets an advantage in the right sniper box, due to an extra box missing.
Plays like:

avsmallfortress
6/10

Pros:
Good for flanking
Cons:
Too many straight flat walls now
Blue’s rush distance is slightly too fast
The old map is arguably better.
Plays like:

avstorage
7/10
Pros:
Close quarters
Shotty advantage
Cons:
The old avstorage is arguably better.
Plays like:

blueresort
2/10
Pros:
Cons:
I have only seen blue win once or twice out of like 20 times.
Plays like:

casinoarena
6/10
Pros:
Scenic
Cons:
Green has a direct sniping point from the green spawn into the blue spawn. It’s possible to kill 3-4 people right as the round begins.
Pretty green bias.
Plays like:

castlewars
9/10
Pros:
Scenic
Several paths
All weapons are viable
Cons:
Some camping spots
Plays like:

chinatown
6/10
Pros:
Scenic
No definate paths, open field with cover in the center
Cons:
Camp spot at the top of the pagoda is hard to break.
Blue gets an advantage in getting up to that camp spot.
Plays like:

csitaly
dedust2arena
These maps should stay in csarena.

facingworldsarena
Riflers often like this map. I’m personally not too fond of it.
5/10
Pros:
For the snipers out there.
Cons:
Non-rifle users usually have to camp or wait until the other team camps to stay alive
It’s possible to hide/ jump in the water, and stall the game
Plays like:

generator2
8/10
Pros:
Allows most play styles
All guns can work, even if rifle is pretty dominant
Many paths to take
Cons:
Overplayed
Plays like:

generator
4/10
Pros:
Small, decent weapon balance
Cons:
There are better maps of its type.
Plays like:
Avsides

indiaarena
7/10
Pros:
Short rounds, well known
Good weapon balance
Allows for flanking if you break the middle
Cons:
Still has some glitcher’s spots that can probably be fixed
Overplayed
Plays like:

minideckarena
8/10
Pros:
Lots of routes but not hard to find someone
Lot of vertical variation
Cons:
Blue spawn overlooks both exits for green
Blue sometimes takes fall damage exiting spawn
Plays like:

museumarena
5/10
Pros:
Map is balanced for both sides
Wallpoping and sneaking around is encouraged
Cons:
Map is kind of angular and regular
Pretty rifle dominated
It is possible to get blind headshots when the round starts by aiming at this specific point when the round starts.
Plays like: Ambassy arena

neotokyo
I haven’t played the edited version.
(I added some stuff to make it less sniper-heavy)
Pros:
Cons:
Plays like:

nuketown
6/10
Pros:
Some people seem to like it a lot for some reason.
Good weapon balance
Cons:
No flank paths, very rectangular and linear.
Overplayed
Plays like:

officewars
1/10
Pros:
Cons:
Team Camp Fest
Rushing is not an option
Blue can glitch down
Plays like:

penthousearena
5/10
Pros:
Good weapon balance
Cons:
Camping areas with one entrance, usually grenade-proof
Blue has the advantage of jumping off the building and coming back into the windows.
Plays like:

planeassault
8/10
Pros:
Quick rounds.
Flanking is great on this map.
Cons:
Rifle >>> other guns on this map due to long straight floors that are all on the same level that have good wallpoping cover. (outside may be an exception)
Plays like:

prison
4/10
Pros:
Cons:
Blue’s tower.
Green’s spawn
Too many straight pathways.
Only way for you to win some rounds is if you convince your team not to go in to the god damn tower.
Plays like:

prisonbreak
7/10
Pros:
Great for sniping
Several routes
Fairly balanced
Cons:
Overplayed.
Green sometimes camps being the hole in the wall.
Plays like:

rigreloaded
7/10
Pros:
There are enough routes that can be taken (once you take one of the two stairs to the top), so that green can get out of the bottom
Cons:
Blue gets far more options than green.
There is only two viable route to the top for green, one of which gets shut down very fast. Going up stairs is often a detriment.
Plays like:

sherwoodforest
3/10
Pros:
Cons:
Too big. Impossible to find the last person when its even 3v3.
Plays like:

spacestationarena
2/10
Pros:
Cons:
The map almost forces green to camp. There are several vantage points from where blue can snipe the greens coming up to the roof, and the inside is definitely dominated by blue.
Also, glitching and jumping onto outside bottom ledges to delay the game is everywhere
Plays like:

spiraltower
5/10
Pros:
Fairly Straightforward map
Cons:
Blue gets a definite advantage, being able to shoot down, and being able to jump down out of the windows.
This allows them to shoot all the greens in the back.
Plays like:

submarinearena
6/10
A decent map.
Pros:

Cons:
Blue spawn camping
Plays like:
A long version of Plane Assualt with less cover

townarena
Too big for arena.
3/10
Pros:
Scenic
Cons:
Too big
Plays like:
Sherwood Forest

turvystairs

5/10
Pros:
Several floors, so you can decide if the investment of time of going downstairs is worth the less people you encounter.
Flanking is a possibility
Rushing is profitable
Cons:
You start on the top floor, and there are a bunch of floors below that, causing most the floors on the bottom to be pretty unnecessary. Would be better if the spawn was on one of the middle floors, and the floors redesigned.
Plays like:

volcano
I completely agree with what’s already posted. You can win rounds by hiding in some location and waiting for the opponent team to all kill themselves.
4/10
Pros:
Challenging, different
Cons:
Platforming is difficult, especially with lag
Too open, not a whole lot of strategy
Plays like:

zealot

6/10
Pros:
Easy to learn
Good cover
Lots of routes
Cons:
Matches can run long
Plays like:
rigreloaded

Many of my maps are missing

avseafort
Pro: you can use every weapon
Con: no cover for green against the blue nades at the beginning

avstorage
Pro: cool small map where you can use every weapon
Cons: “campingroom” for blue over their base, sometimes long rounds (because of camping)

planeassault
Pros: nice and well known map at all, popular
Con: in my opinion none

prisonbreak
Pro: nice idea
Cons: camping in green building, too open, only a few chances to hide, sometimes camping in buildings

rigreloaded
Pro: nice map and many ways you can go
Con: it is easier for blue (they can camp at the stairs and kill green there)

volcano
Pro: a bit difficult and nice atmosphere
Cons: too much holes, bad covers, it is annying to jump all the time

ok im tired of hearing people say town arena is too big…

pros: it plays well for every gun type, it is a team based map(meaning if you try to be trigger happy run and gun everything u will get picked off easy, its a pretty map lol, every house and cornfield is connected by the cata combs(tunnels) large open areas for snipers to have fun, mid range combat for smgs, close corners combat for shotguns. Quick games

cons: it has camping areas(but what arena doesn’t have camping places), I green side is not balanced unless you know what you are doing, sometimes games can run a bit long due to campers.

give this map a chance before you criticize it. Everytime I play this map I hear nothing but good comments(in game) so if you are crying about it being too big maybe you need to just check your skills.

Sherwood forest is a huge map It was the first map I created. It took me like 3 days to make with mojo and another person i forgot it was a couple years ago.

pros: good for every gun type, Scenic map

cons: too many camping areas, too big, matches take forever most of the time. Just not a good map for arena all together.

I created these two maps and these are my honest opinions

I’d like to rate some maps that havent’t been mentioned here now:
Avacid

pros: plays different than other maps
cons: not enough cover, a lot of people fall into the water because they lag or are not carefull enough
plays like: vulcano

pros: simple, good map for rifle, camping isn’t possible
cons: -
plays like: -

pros: many different ways, different strategies possible
cons: Way too big
plays like: Ambassyarena
4/10

removed.png

Lost Motel some of these map look very interesting it would be great if they were added on the all map server.
avbeige is more of a beta.
I could fix avacid by separating the zone but it might feel like a different map.

Avbeige is actually my favorite map from you. It would be nice to see it on the arena server again.

abandoned stronghold
Pros: Open and quick to learn

Cons: No real qualms about it.

Plays like: Quick map, plays in under two minutes. Should be a 15 round map.

Rating: 7/10

Playslike: Medium-slow paced

Rating: 7/10

alamoarena

Plays like: alamoarena with less annoying spawnpoints

Plays like: Fast, close quarter fighting. Similar to avstorage.

Cons: Favors numbers. if teams become unbalanced, almost impossible for the handicapped team.

playslike: avstorage, nuketown

Rating: 8/10

I’ll finish the rest in another post.

-barron?!?!

P.S. Good maps I didn’t see on here: sixhouses, crossover, phases, avvirtual, swamparena,

P.P.S. I’m probably the only one who really likes avacid

I really like planeassault, avsides, indiarena, DEFINATELY AVSTORAGE! & kinda avseafort (maybe avsmallfortress). I like the maps by AvUKY a lot! Thanks

Maps I think should be cut from arena:

beaulieuarena - too large, made for infilration
deepspace - impossible to find anyone on (with less than five people on each team)
sherwoodforest - too large
spacestationarena - green is forced to camp in their spawn
officewars - group camp map, blue can glitch down
lostvalleyarena - too large, made for infiltration, way too many hiding spots
prison - impossible to break blue camping tower
blueresort- incredibly green sided

fixed it for you

The maps I don’t really enjoy playing are

LostValley - To big, People that camp are a pain
LostValleyV2 - Same as LostValley just has trees everywhere that makes it impossible to snipe enemy players in the forest
Ambassy - That map really annoys me, It is huge, You get lost unless you look at the map
Casino - Even though its kinda fun, I feel sorry for the blue team, There stuck down the bottom in plain sight

And all the others have been said by Nimbus.
Thanks
