Reduce smg damage on babel

From playing game after game, I’ve noticed there seems to be an unbalance with weapons at the moment.

The ‘smg’ has become way too overpowered.
15 kills are possible with it and not a single reload.
The reasoning for that the smg is overpowered is due to the fact that shotgun has 6 shots and very likely around 6 kills at max per reload.
10 is the max amount of kills per rifle per reload.
Also with the lag, it becomes many times a situation of where shots miss, and it is not forgiving to rifle users, while smg users simply get to spam with shots and not have to worry much about lagging of players.
Also the maps rotation could be improved a bit, so that more shotgun usage can been seen and less biased towards smg.

Zehra, SMG is not overpowered (in babel) yea it’s true than u can get 15 kills with it, without reload, but that’s not possible without aimbot, for me SMG is good, and don’t need to reduce his damage, if u’re a good player you don’t will have any problems with that Weapon.

SMG by itself is not overpowered (in babel) but some small maps and low respawn times can give SMG a better advantage IMO. SMG has bad recoil IMO but you can shoot more bullets fast, compared to the rifle that has better recoil but slower fire power iirc.

As for maps: IMO almost all maps have a small preference for SMG use because they are better for faster tower destruction, but on small maps like Tower Dive (no water damage = camper SMG heaven) and plateau I have seen SMG as more cumbersome especially for camper use. IMO SMGs appear to be over powered on smaller babel maps instead of lager ones.

MoDeR, it’s not really the question of damage at times, but the lag and jitter creating issues for rifle users.
Rifle will beat smg with a perfect aim, but this only happens with very stable lag.
Sadly this is not always the case and it becomes an annoyance to virtually every rifle user when there is lag spikes and jitter.
The ‘smg’ is especially over powered when lag takes effects, due to it’s high rate of fire.
(1 shot misses to lag, just keep on firing and the lag does not take a strong effect on it.)
It really screws the balance in game as shots will miss due to the lag spikes.
(There is no way to be successful against lag spikes, unless someone uses aimbot.)

shywolf91, It is over powered, but there usually is a balance in some maps which makes it not so noticeable.
Also with increased lag spikes, it quickly changes the game into the hand of smg.
If you miss, just press the trigger to compensate for the miss.(With smg.)
By the time rifle has a chance to fire again, you have died due to the output and high rate of fire from smg.
It’s not unbalanced, when the right maps and damage settings are used, but many of the maps are unbalanced.

SMG becomes drastically less effective against any enemy that actually takes cover behind blocks, particularly on babel, since the blocks are typically unbreakable via gunfire.

The SMG isn’t really a bad weapon, it’s more like a spray-n-pray gun used for suppressive fires. Pretty effective, ngl.
The SMG also has a huge downside which is the recoil, it’s hard to hit enemies that are using cover during firefights, which can actually forces you to spray-n-pray.
Of course, if you’re greedy enough, you can just waste all of your magazines in hopes you can grasps the kills and run back to your tent safely.
