Not really; I play quake live on 105ms ping to some servers and still do pretty well. Obviously it's a pretty different experience to having a lower ping but it's definitely doable. Besides, you can set up your own servers and I'm sure at least a few brazilians will be interested in it.

This may be irrelevant to the topic but a lot of new games coming out on the PC seem to just be copies of other games with visual revamps and extra features the original didn't have. Ace of Spades (both the paid and original) all have copies. I think someone made a post about Ace of Spade copies somewhere on the forums.
