Title: Ban
Post by: Ben Cousins on February 04, 2019, 07:54:16 AM HST
1) Votekicks last only 30 minutes. Did you wait at least 30 minutes to make sure your "ban" is not just a votekick?
I wasn't votekicked. No one started one.

2) What is your in-game player name? Please include it in the subject of this topic as well.
Ben Cousins

3) What server were you playing on when you got banned? Reminder: We can only help you with bans that took place on aloha.pk servers.
Aloha.pk babel server

4) Why were you banned? Lying severely decreases your chances of getting unbanned. If your "little brother" got you banned, tell him to make an appeal, or accept responsibility on his behalf.
I honestly have no idea. All I said was hello, then a few minutes later after saying literally nothing, I got banned.

5) Why should you be unbanned?
Because I did nothing. I have served time for my other bans. I am a new man, I am a good boy :D.

6) When were you banned? Best approximate date and time, please.
5th Feb, 2 mins ago.

Hello,

I am the admin who banned you couple minutes ago for ban evasion.  I banned you on 01/30/2019 for RACIST and duration of the ban was 4 weeks, meaning it will be expired on 02/27/2019.

Please stay off aloha's servers until your ban is expired, otherwise, I will extend it to 8 weeks.

Thanks,

Nathan

Ben,

You was ban on this one http://aloha.pk/index.php?topic=10740.0 and you did not learn anything from it.  Hoping you would learn not being RACIST after this ban.

Thanks,

Nathan

Ok big Nath, sorry about that one buddy :D
Could you please explain why I'm also banned from the discord again if you know anything about it? I didn't do anything within it just prior to getting banned. Just got banned without warning. Thanks.

Ben Cousins,

I do not think you are banned on Discord.

Thanks,

Nathan

Ben Cousins,

I normally love to give people more chance to play again and you are not exception.  If you write a complete (serious) essay with minimum 750 words "Why RACIST is hurt people feeling?".    Then I will reconsider to lift your ban.

Thanks,

Nathan

Ok thanks big Nath, I'll write this heartfelt lengthy essay.

For many years, humanity has been plagued by racism and it has caused much harm to many. Although much of Western Society has made many great steps into the reduction of it, the topic of racism continues to be a relevant issue in today's society. To understand why it is such an issue, we must understand the meaning of the term "racism/racist". A common definition amongst multiple renowned dictionaries is that racism is defined as "prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior". People in this day and age, continue to express prejudice, discrimination, etc. towards different races, more particularly to the non-Eurocentric (white) race. This can create issues within a society as it divides a minority from a majority. Although racism has become less prevalent today, after events such as the Civil Rights movement within the 60's, the continuation of racism has created an alienation within much of Western Society as minority groups feel as if they are being pitted against the majority. The media doesn't help these rising divide by adding fuel to the fire. This divide as a result of racism has been touted as the reasons for many young Muslim men becoming radical, joining terrorist groups such as ISIS, it has also been touted as the reasons for many hate crimes being committed and race related riots such as the Charlottesville Riot in 2017. In order for these terrible things to stop, we as a society must refuse not to judge people based upon the beliefs and colour of their skin, but the content of their character. We must also refuse to listen to the media's reporting with a bias point of view on such issues as they continue to twist stories and essentially, "stir the pot". We are in a period of time in which it is important for us to understand that racism can't continue any further so our race groups can unite for a common goal. This goal can be something as major as prosperity for all, or everlasting peace. Division is always something which can hinder those goals. If such goals could be achieved, then society would be a much better place.

On a personal level, racism is also topic of issue as it can hurt many peoples feelings. The alienation of a person based upon their beliefs or colour can result in many psychological problems. A sense of belonging and acceptance is important for someone to feel emotionally stable and happy. If the majority exclude someone who already is a different race, then they will only feel a less sense of belonging. This can lead to people having depression, anxiety, etc. It can even cause suicide. As a society, we cannot turn a blind eye to racism as it can make people feel this way. Using racism as a way to hurt someones feelings is an unfair attempt at bullying and abuse as people can't change the way they are in terms of their race. Bullying someone for the way they are is unacceptable, especially since the colour of their skin doesn't offend or hurt anyone around them. We must not show prejudice towards a whole race for the actions of a few within that minority group. If a person of African decent commits a crime, it does not mean all of those in that race group are criminals. People of all races, has the ability to be kind and caring to one another, just like people of all races have the ability to have bad morals. We all have features which make us individual and they lie within our identity as a human, not within the colour of our skin, or contrasting beliefs or culture as long as they don't hurt others.

In conclusion, we as a whole must do our best to combat racism in this day and age. This is because our increasing divide within our society can be attributed to racism. This ever increasing divide can result in many events which further seperate our society majority and minorities. Our medias reporting on these issues and events regarding race also further divides society, so we must as a whole look at the medias reporting with an unbiased point of view. We also must do our best to reduce racism as it can have severe impacts of those who fall into the category of minorities, as the exclusion of those who have different races can result in many suffering from emotional issues. I'd like to end this essay with this qoute from civil rights activist, the great Martin Luther King Jnr. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” Although this great man is dead, his words should still resonate within our society to this day. We should all make a change. We should all stop racism...

Ben Cousins

Will this essay be enough for me to be unbanned?

Ben,

I've read your essay and it seem more research than actual essay.  I would gave you an credit to have effort to it.

I was about to fulfill my promise by lifting your ban tonight (local EST).  However, you've evaded your ban before my decision has made and one of our admin has an short term ban against you.  As you know, aloha's staff will not tolerate any evader.

As I said earlier "Please stay off aloha's servers until your ban is expired, otherwise, I will extend it to 8 weeks".

I will bring your appeal to staff discussion and will get back to you as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, "PLEASE STAY OFF ALOHA'S SERVER UNTIL DECISION IS MADE, OTHERWISE I WILL EXTEND THIS BAN TO 6 MONTHS".

Thanks,

Nathan

Nathan,

I honestly have no idea how to "evade". You hadn't replied for a while to my essay for a while so I thought maybe you had unbanned me and just didn't tell me to mess with me or something. Hence the fact, yesterday I clicked the Aloha Babel Server and I could play without being banned or any disruption so I assumed that maybe you did in fact, unban me. It wasn't until I asked players in the server that if it was a good idea for me to join the server, because I could play freely without being banned, but you hadn't told me my ban was lifted. One player told me I should get off and I asked him if he could ask the admins in the Aloha Discord if I had been unbanned or not. A few minutes passed and that same player came back and said I should probably just get off and literally seconds later, I got a private message from DemonDestroyer telling me that my ban had not been lifted and that I needed to get off. I then asked DemonDestroyer if you had at least read my essay so I could know if it was worthy of being unbanned or not but he didn't respond and a minute later he just told me that I should get off if I didn't want my ban to increase (from what I remember this is all fact, you can ask DemonDestoyer yourself). When he told me this, I complied with what he said and immediately got off.

So in summary, I didn't intentionally try to "evade" the ban as I don't even know how to do that. I just assumed you had lifted my ban without telling me to mess with me or something. When I did join the server, I asked around to see if it was a good idea for me to play and when an admin came on to speak to me, I followed his rules and left the server (although I tried asking him questions first). I genuinely feel as if I didn't do anything wrong intentionally. Could this message be taken into consideration at this staff discussion. Thanks Big Nath.

Ben Cousins

Before you said you didn't think I had been banned from the Discord. If it is true I haven't been banned from the Discord, could you please send me a temporary Discord invite link so I can better communicate with admins if its not too much trouble. It would've been helpful to be in the Discord for this particular situation. Thanks.

Ben,

Thanks for the explanation and I will give you the benefit of the doubt by taking your word for "not intent to evade".  Please stay off aloha's servers until decision is made.

By the way, I do not handle appeal via pm.

Thanks,

Nathan

Have you read my 750 word essay about racism?

Please read my latest statement. Just messaging you in private to make sure you see it as it is on the second page. Thanks.

Hey Nathan, I can't help but notice that you have replied to other peoples appeals but still haven't managed to make a decision on what to do with my appeal. How long do these decisions tend to take? Thanks.

Ben Cousins,

Your ban is lifted.  Please remember if any of aloha's staff who catch you for being RACIST again, then I will reinstate this ban.  Meaning you will have to be working very hard to get another chance.

Enjoy the game and have fun.

Thanks,

Nathan
