Zakrevsky - Appeal 1) Votekicks last only 30 minutes. Did you wait at least 30 minutes to make sure your "ban" is not just a votekick?

Quite sure.

2) What is your in-game player name? Please include it in the subject of this topic as well.

Atreyu (Komrade Atreyu, Sir Atreyu)

3) What server were you playing on when you got banned? Reminder: We can only help you with bans that took place on aloha.pk servers.

4) Why were you banned? Lying severely decreases your chances of getting unbanned. If your "little brother" got you banned, tell him to make an appeal, or accept responsibility on his behalf.

Aloha Pinpoint. Zakrevsky was hacking, and has identical IP.

5) Why should you be unbanned?

I am a veteran member of the ace of spades community, and have never hacked. About 20 months ago (or more), I quit the game along with my brother. I have recently started playing again, and am becoming more involved in the community and in servers. I am attemping to start a clan, and have a few respected, mature members in. We organized a little 'get together' if you will, on pinpoint. My brother (Zakrevsky), who had hacked before he quit, but who I believed had shown remorse and matured to the point of knowing better, was on the server with us. The day before, I had seen him as he played, and he had not been hacking. Although this is little reason to justify my initial incredulity when he (and I, by extent) were banned, it was also not a reason to arouse any suspicion. As I played, I did not notice any unusual activity from him. Pabh began to spectate, and about ten minutes later, I was banned. He reported the same thing. Since I knew I had not been hacking, and believed he had not either, I thought it was a server malfunction (is that a thing?). I went on IRC, and Pabh explained that we were both banned because we share the same IP. The choice is entirely up to you admins. I will not beg for a pardon of the permanent ban, because I realize that unbanning the IP may give access to him playing again. I do not see any way of solving this, so I leave this to you. He has expressed no intention of playing AoS again, if that means anything, and I can inform admins when/if he is on, and what IGN he is using, although I wonder what that would do to help. I would like to continue playing this game, and find it enjoyable to play and socialize, but I would rather this not happen again. I apologize that his has happened, and that this is taking your time.

6) When were you banned? Best approximate date and time, please.

Aloha Pinpoint, about an hour ago (from May 21, 2014)

p.s. If any of you are cynical enough to question whether he was in fact a sibling, or just a creation of mine to excuse hacking, please check IRC logs and Pabh's video of us playing and talking at the same time.

[x] FX FX is a well-known hacker who has apparently been banned multiple times by a number of admins and moderators for a continuous use of a variety of hacks. He continues to appear on aloha servers albeit briefly (5, 10, sometimes 15 minutes). He is most likely evading; is there anything that can be done?

He usually pleasures us with his company on pinpoint, which seems to be his server of choice.

Babel Maps One of this year's most consistently populated aloha servers is tower of babel.
Many of us, despite individual preference, play on babel simply because it has a dependably large player-base, and thus more lively gameplay.
That being said, and despite the rotation for babel containing dozens of maps, we seem to have have thoroughly exhausted each map; many regular players have courted them dozens of times for hours.

I have a suggestion that should do three things:
-promote creativity within the community;
-promote novelty within aloha servers - beginning with babel;
and lastly,
-satisfy and appeal to the majority of babel's visiting player base.

The suggestion has two parts:
1. Expand the rotation to include both older maps, and maps currently exclusive to certain servers (i.e. 2keep, forks etc. [intel.rpg])
2. Open up competitions in forums (either BnS or aloha.pk, tbd by admins) for any who please to design new maps.

The idea is simple, but it would bolster a much-needed sense of improvement and creativity within the community and simultaneously make existing servers more interesting. Further, players who venture into the game and play for a span of a few days or weeks may become more likely to become persistent players. If all goes well, it could prompt a "grassroots initiative" - so to speak - for normal players to feel involved in progress.

Most importantly, it is very easy to implement.
Any admin can begin the competition in the forums. Any sysadmin can expand the rotation. Anyone can design a map.

Thoughts? Please be constructive and positive.

Re: Babel Maps I'm very glad that my post garnered so much attention in the span of a day.

To the original point, mappers can solve most of the problems being discussed because they have an ear to the floor; they know what others want, and are often immensely creative in designing maps that are both new, interesting, and satisfying for the majority of players.

Instead of making complex adjustments to babel - whose appeal is its rather simple game-mode with a single objective - simply allow for people to mold it how they would like.

Further, after we implement "mapetitions" for babel, we can naturally expand to other servers (aloha.pk and then, perhaps, others). If we want to return to the ideal of years past - when dozens of servers catering to a variety of desires were constantly full - we can start to broaden organically, and the easiest way to begin (i.e. garner community attention and effort) is via map-making, where anyone can make improvements to servers. Such things fostered a spirit of community in the past, and it would not hurt to do so again!

Kudos to izzy and danke for getting involved in the discussion: administrator attention is what we need to make this work!

Re: Map making tutorial Thank you Danke. This is perfect.
I'll add a link to this in the Babel Maps thread, since its a quintessential part of the idea.

Let's start designing some potatoes maps!

Re: PUBovl: What and how to use it
I've listened that music before... but I forget his name :( can you paste it?

It is La Fille Aux Cheveux de Lin by Debussy.
This version was transposed for symphony; the original is for piano.
Hope that helps!
