Expanding into new frontiers (Games) So, I read a great topic on this forum page. It was by Monstarules, and here is the link if you are interested: http://aloha.pk/index.php?topic=9342.100. It talks about many of Aloha's flaws and possibilities to maybe improve it, and prevent the looming death of this forum as rapidly. As of right now, I believe we should attempt to promote our site by expanding into new and different games. I believe once we grow a larger community, we may have the ability to weed out all of the internal issues. I understand that I have only been an official member for virtually a month now, but I already have grown an interest to this form, as well as Build n Shoot / OpenSpades. That alone is the main reason why I made an account on this forum. However, I feel we should do what we did to people such as myself, but possibly in new game frontiers. Sadly, I am not sure what games we can expand into, nor do I have enough experience to properly promote it. I hope that my opinion has simply been read and taken into account, since that is all I really want to get from this post. I thank you for reading this as well.

Re: We need to get Build and Shoot/Openspades back on the map We should have an OS/BNS competitive (not really) tournament on an Aloha.pk server to gain a little attention. I say we post some videos promoting it, as well as people actually getting players to film their own perspective and posting it on YouTube or other sites. That would be really cool. We can get enough teams to have a proper bracket (4,8,16, etc.) of a certain number of people and just keep going until we have a team that wins it all. Sort of like the World Cup. But, I do not know what game mode we should play, the amount of players per team, or the actual game mode. To create teams, I  just think we have a team leader invite players or something like that. Last thing, I think it should be in the summer season (Northern Hemisphere) and it should be more than one day, so that way it isn't rushed. So, what do you guys think? If you guys think it's at least a good idea, then just tell me and we could possibly start a sub-thread for it. Of course, this would need some cooperation, and some extensive planning. But I could only imagine how fun it would be and how many people this could attract with the proper advertisement.

That's honestly an awesome idea. I think the game should be on walls because it is probably the most iconic map of OS/BnS but that my be hard to put all of the teams together and the game would take too long without many players. So, the game should probably be a Counterstrike series or a TDM series to or a game of intel but on a smaller map.
Exactly, we get a team of around 7 players (or more) and play a game of intel. Just one match, make or break. I would love to help set it up and plan it with others, but we need to get popular opinion on this, so it may take a bit, if it ever gets put into action.

Re: We need to get Build and Shoot/Openspades back on the map What holiday should we opt for? Of course this tournament would be nothing huge, and we would need to find a proper map, server, and gamemode to play. If you wish, I could make a new thread concerning this idea of a possible tournament. This way, people can put in their own opinions and ideas to it.

AoS Tournament proposal As of lately, AOS has of course been fairly empty in most of its Aloha.pk servers. This saddens me, since I have only been in the game's community since October of 2016 (yes I know that I made this forum account later down the road). With that being said, I understand there have been several attempts to inject new players into this game, which is totally reasonable. Unfortunately, all our ideas have simply failed due to lack of effort, communication, and execution. With that being said, I have one more idea to add to the list, but hopefully it can get enough community support to back it up. As the title states, I propose we host a tournament later this year (we need time to organize, this is barely just a suggestion). I was thinking it be done over a time of break, like Thanksgiving Break (American Bias). We would need to of course agree on how we are to actually host the tournament. I also believe this tournament should simply be for fun, and not be a way to win money. Just bragging rights ;). Now you may be thinking, how can this help grow the community? Well, it can help spread other events within the game. Events are the best way to get players to return after a break, invite new players into the community (it feels more welcoming if you can participate), and also keep players as of now active in the game. So that being said, here are my ideas on how this tournament could go down.

My suggestions

1. Gamemode
Capture the Flag (How generic).

2. Team organization
Teams of at least 5-10 with a possible bench/reserves for emergencies and substitutions, we could work numbers down the road. I also propose we create a bracket. This means we would need 4 or more teams to have some kind of playoff (I suggest we go by 4's, or it will get confusing). Teams should be organized by players on their own time, and can invite anyone as long as they have an Aloha.pk forum account. Hosts would need to know teams by a certain deadline.

3. Date & Time span
Again, I suggest a time of resting, like Thanksgiving for the Americans. Christmas time could work, yet I can imagine many will be on vacation and such, over Christmas Break. The tournament should be no more than 3 days, since I am assuming the bracket will be fairly small, and games should not last too long.

4. Server
I'm assuming we can do this on an Aloha.pk server, since they do have a few Aloha.pk ctf servers. Classicgen CTF???

5. Hosting
I would be willing to help do this. Yet, I would hate to be in it alone, since I have been so busy lately, and I can imagine the workload I have been given will continue, so I would need some help from others. I have never hosted an event on any game, so I would really like a guide of some sort to help me get through it. We would also need some Aloha.pk official of some sort to help get the server and games set up, but I can imagine we could get it done without one, but it would be hard.

6. Rules
We would need to work on this later.

7. Advertisement
Of course we can advertise on this very forum, but we would need other ways to get to people. Flyers/images could be made as well. I know of the BnS steam group, and some of us have YouTube channels which could help spread the word. I also suggest we stream or record tournament matches as they are being played, so the people at home can watch their favorite players and teams battle it out.

So as of now, here are some of my ideas and proposals, if I missed out on any ideas in which you all think need to be added, point it out (I can imagine I missed key points)! I will update this post as much as we need in order to get this idea on board. I hope this could spark some new ideas and give AoS the boost it needs in publicity.

Thanks for your time,
Zeitgeist  :D

Re: AoS Tournament proposal
IT SHOULD BE A ARENA GAMEMATCH
I don't like arena, since the games will go by too fast. Also CTF is one of the most classic games to have 2 teams battle it out. I would do babel, since that is a AoS tradition, but it would ruin the server for those who are not in the tournament, or have no real interest in viewing the event. Thank you for the suggestion though, we can bring it up again later down the road if this gets up and running.

Re: AoS Tournament proposal
I agree!  Maybe we should revive FSOM events?
This might be the most retarded question ever asked on these forums, but bare with me, I was not around on this forum during that time period. What is/was FSOM for AoS? Like, I have seen video clips and heard it be thrown around, but I do not really know what FSOM is.

FSOM = First Saturday of the Month

Pretty sure it's aloha.pk-specific. Everyone gets together and plays a predetermined game mode on, well, the first Saturday of the month! :)

The last one was held back in April and was organized by shywolf91. It was my favourite one I have ever participated in!

I would love to help organize an FSOM. ToW maybe? Haven't played that game mode in a while.

I would be down to host one of those as well, since they seem like a lot less maintenance compared to a Tournament. I could even do it next weekend if people would be down to do it. It just wouldn't be considered an FSOM, lol. Thank you for telling me by the way.  ;D

Re: AoS Tournament proposal In response to all these new comments and ideas, I am currently narrowing down some of the ideas and stuff. For one, this tournament is going to be team-based. I liked TheRealStrikerJannersYT idea of doing a checkpoint game mode. Although, I am going to continue to explore my options. I also liked KungFuChicken's points of a leaderboard system. I believe people should get recognition for most kills, checkpoints captured, etc. As of now, I will be working on the basics and whatnot, but I still need help. I need to figure out how to make servers private, or make my own. I'm assuming I would need some kind of Moderator help in order to complete certain tasks. With that being said, I will continue to work on stuff and organize things. But until now, all this is simply just an idea.

Favorite map! So. if you had to pick one map from AoS and select said map as your favorite, what would it be? It can be for any game mode and it has to have been or currently is on AoS. Explain if you want, I don't really care if you go into great detail on it, I am just curious to see what people say.

My Pick: Omaha, the map just is so interesting, and you almost feel like you are experiencing a really cheesy D-Day landing. That is just my personal opinion.

ToW please? This map is amazing on it.
