Pretty weird, right? Lemme explain: The blue area outlined are the map 'chunks'. They are especially vulnerable. The red area is a pillar. They are indestructible and it is not possible to build on top of this area.
What makes the chunks so vulnerable is the dark lined circle around them, that connects them to the pillars:
They're only one block thick! Remove all the dark blocks and the whole chunk falls down. It takes all of five seconds to knock a chunk out:
You're probably wondering what is going on under there, let's look: The chunks are only a good 12 blocks thick, and underneath is a cistern of murky, deadly water. Don't touch it, you'll die! You can see the indestructible pillars reaching all the way to the ground. Don't worry, even if all the chunks were griefed, you'd spawn on one of these pillars as would the tent and the intels. Nothing is getting stuck in the poisonous water!
But that's another interesting point: You can still build down there. You can build rickety dangerous platforms to sneak into enemy territory!
You can even use the holes for intel defense:
If that sounds too slow for you, capping intel will automatically drop 10 chunks of enemy territory.
The server is geared towards hardcore PvP. Players have a chance, if they have enough cash, to build up a town that has protected land. Players can hunt other players for their cash and items too!

BuildCon 2013:
Most of us have built awesome structures on Ace of Spades, maybe by ourselves or maybe with the help of a few other people. But we've never built anything with the whole community. That's why we're hosting our first aloha.pk community building event, BuildCon 2013! This will be an exciting event where people can build whatever they want with other members of the community without worrying about getting griefed. Killing will be disabled for obvious reasons and the server will be protected by members of our staff. After 2-3 hours, when we're done building, killing will be enabled and we'll have an epic battle. Nostalgia Faceoff:
DE of The Bastion is organizing another BuildAndShoot.com gaming night. push is a newish game mode by danhezee that's all about building bridges over deadly water to the objective while attacking the enemy and defending your team from incoming enemy fire. a simple and fun concept. if you tried this game mode in the past and had a bad run-in with griefers, be sure to give it another try because Danke and i recently added some anti grief measures. here's an introduction to push by CraftDinur:
blockpower is an experiment-gone-right by Danke. it's a hybrid of CTF and RPG elements; capture the intel to boost your powers! very addicting. currently there are 16 different powers:
Armor: You take less damage from body shots
Blocksplosion: Your blocks are explosive
Regeneration: You heal hit points per second
Acid: Your bullets eat away at blocks
Clusterbombs: Your grenades pack an extra punch
Teleportation: Warp around the map
Disarm: Disarm your target
Misery: Your bullets do damage based on the amount of health you lost
Helmet: You can survive headshots without damage
Bombsquad: You take less damage from grenades
Feign Death: Hold Sprint and stand still to fake your death
Overgrowth: Break a block to start a block growing chain reaction
Griefshot: Hold crouch to charge a griefing bullet
Divination: Your blocks can feel the nearest enemy
Distraction: Hold crouch to charge a distraction bullet
Transmute: Break blocks to get ammo
choose the power you want to level up by selecting a block color from the 1st and 4th columns of the palette:
keep in mind blockpower is a WORK IN PROGRESS! Danke is still making changes so anything and everything i just said may be outdated.
tennis is a little map/mode i threw together that forces fast-paced gameplay in a small area with grenades and shotguns only. it's based on the map he_tennis from Counter-Strike. currently there's only one map in the rotation but Danke made another map with a slightly different gameplay style (also fast-paced) that allows only 1 life per round. either both maps will be included in the rotation or one will replace the other. time will tell.
faceoff is a concept map i released in June 2011 that was popular in the earlier Ace of Spades days. teams spawn on raised platforms that are separated by a gap too big to jump across but small enough to see the other side. thanks to Zeke for suggesting its comeback. it's currently running team deathmatch with water damage and a 40 hour time limit.

we've grown a lot in numbers and activity since February 2011, especially over the past year. it has been an exciting ride so far and i'm looking forward to the years ahead.

How the game works:
Just like regular CTF, two intels, two tents. But: Every 5 minutes the game goes into "nuke mode" for about 45 seconds
Nuke Mode: The sky turns yellow-orange. Everyone takes 20HP per second damage when exposed to the sky (no blocks between you and the sky) Players have a chance to be targetted by an airstrike The airstrike belongs to them, it can hurt them, but it will also hurt enemies. It is possible to get kills with it. Your airstrikes will not hurt your teammates (but you never really know whose airstrikes are whose anyway) The airstrikes do block damage. They will slowly (sometimes quickly) rip apart the map trying to get to you. Holding intel (hazmat suit) will protect you from radiation damage (you'll take no damage from being exposed) You will not be protected from grenades You will also be warned when airstrikes are launched at you (about 5 seconds before they start) Capturing Intel will give a refill to you and all your teammates Being exposed to the sky (with suit or without) will increase your chance of getting targetted with an airstrike If you survive the nuke period without taking radiation damage (other damage is fine) you will be refilled (HP, ammo, blocks)
There is a 10 second countdown warning you when a nuke is going to detonate.

Just moments ago, the cgen server hosted a peaceful cease fire between Blue and Green in honor of Christmas. In the spirit of unity, both teams came together and created an amazing Christmas scenario/model in the center of the map. With help from both sides, a successful Christmas celebratory model was created. Because it was so outrageously gigantic, it took a few hours.
